Game 1 - It was a crisp 45 degrees with the wind blowing in at 8 mph on October 1, 2009 at Wrigley Field. The Coolers scored a first inning run without a hit on two walks and a sacrifice fly by David Ortiz. In the 2nd, the bottom of the order gave Zack Greinke all the runs he would need as Robinson Cano and Kenji Johjima hit back-to-back rbi-doubles. Greinke fanned 8 and scattered 6 hits in 6 innings for the win. When Geoff Geary allowed the tying run to come to the plate by the name of Ryan Howard, Mariano Rivera came in to get the fly out to left and the save. Cano was 2-4 for California, Chris Duncan 3-5 for Hannibal. |

Game 2 - It was a cool 53 degrees on October 2, 2009 at Wrigley Field. The Cannibals fell to the Coolers 5-4 in 14 innings. The Cannibals were up 2-1 until Rich Aurilia hit an rbi double in the bottom of the 8th. Hannibal went up by two in the top of the 10th on a 2-run shot by Mike Lowell. Cano answered in the bottom half with a pinch-hit homer with one on. In the bottom of the 14th, Kevin Kouzmanoff led off with a double. Brandon Inge fanned. Kyle McClellan walked the next two batters. Cano came up with the bases loaded and singled to right center for the win. Ryan Howard knocked a homerun and had one RBI, going 3-5 for Hannibal. |

Game 3 - October 4, 2009. This game was all A.J. Burnett. He tossed a 5-hit shutout with the Coolers only getting 2 runners on at the same time once. There was a 64-minute rain delay at Shea Stadium in the bottom of the 7th. Adam Jones paced the Cannibals getting three hits in three trips to the plate, with one 2B and one RBI. He improved his average to .417 for the ALDS. |

Game 4 - It was a chilly 46 degrees on October 5, 2009 at Shea Stadium. The Coolers edged the Cannibals by a score of 2-0. Greinke won his 2nd game of the series. He had a no-hitter going thru 7.1 innings. Dustin McGowan lost it. Rivera closed it for the save. Addrian Gonzalez paced the Coolers getting three hits in four trips to the plate, with one 2B and one RBI. |

Game 5 - October 6, 2009 at Shea Stadium. The Cannibals demolished the Coolers by a score of 8-1. The winning pitcher was Danny Haren, evening his record at 1-1. On the losing end was Andy Pettitte. Vernon Wells topped the winners with a 1-2 day. |
Game 6 - The thermometer dropped to 54 degrees on October 8, 2009 at Wrigley Field. The Cannibals edged the Coolers by a score of 5-3 to force a game 7. It was Matt Garza getting the win, he is 1-0 on the year. Gil Meche lost it, his record this season is 0-1. Octavio Dotel was credited with the save. Juan Rivera led the Cannibals going 2-4 with one 2B and one RBI. He improved his average to .375. |

Game 7 - October 9, 2009 at Wrigley Field. Greinke picked up right where he left off with his mastery of the Cannibals. Manager Steve Hamilton will have nightmares about him. Burnett added to his scoreless streak as well as the teams combined for 3 hits thru 5 scoreless innings. California got to A.J. though in the bottom of the 6th. With two runs in already, Jody Gerut pinch-hit and raked a 3-2 pitch from George Sherrill for a 3-run homerun and a 5-0 lead. Hannibal threatened with runners on 2nd and 3rd in the top of the 7th, but Chris Duncan hit a liner to third for an unassisted doubleplay. Greinke got his 3rd win in as many tries, finishing with 11 hits and 19 strikeouts in 20 innings and an 0.45 ERA. |
